Make a one-time donation or become a sustainer through monthly or quarterly donations: POWER needs the support of our community to carry out the changes that our leaders envision: affordable housing; dignified work; sustainable and healthy communities; economic opportunity; personal transformation through empowerment and action. Please consider becoming a sustainer of POWER by committing to monthly or quarterly donations-it's easy on your pocketbook and helps POWER build a continuous stream of grassroots support. Donate now!

Donate unwanted items to Community Thrift in POWER's name: POWER is currently on the roster of non-profit organizations that benefit from sales at Community Thrift. We've received over $500 in support over the last few years from Community Thrift through donations of clothing and furniture by POWER supporters. Help POWER to maintain this additional source of financial assistance by making your donations to Community Thrift in POWER's name! If it's time to lighten your load, then drop your unwanted items off. The donation center is open Monday through Saturday from 10am-5pm. Please mention POWER or code # 64 when donating items.

Community Thrift Store:
623 Valencia Street (near 17th Street) SF, 94110
Phone: 415.861.4910
The donation center is located on the South side of the building, on Sycamore Street

Find out if your workplace gives money to non-profits: Corporations give away billions of dollars each year to nonprofit organizations; is yours one of them? If so, find out whether or not your workplace would consider making a grant or donation to POWER. If the answer is yes, find out what the first step would be for POWER to be considered, and then contact Aspen Branch-Moore at aspen@peopleorganized.org.

Find out if your company will donate in-kind products or services to POWER: POWER depends on a wide variety of in-kind donations to keep out organization going, to provide incentives to our interns and to provide quality childcare, food and translation at our events, trainings and membership meetings. Just this year we've received in-kind donations of computers, printing services, food, children's toys and art materials. Does your company have a product or service that could help POWER? If so, contact Aspen Branch-Moore at aspen@peopleorganized.org.

Find out if your workplace will match your gift: Many workplaces will match their employees' donations up to a certain amount, which can double the power of your gift! If you plan to make a donation, ask your company if they will provide a matching donation.

Collect gift certificates for POWER: Most of us have a few gift certificates that we may never use. POWER can put them to good use, giving them to our volunteers and interns as incentives or buying needed items for the organization. It's easy to gather gift certificates: send out a quick email to your friends, family and co-workers to ask if they will donate any unused gift certificates. We have an email that you can use as a template. If you would like to do this, please contact Aspen Branch-Moore at aspen@peopleorganized.org.

Hold a house party for POWER: One of the best ways to introduce new supporters to POWER is through house parties. Get your friends together for cocktails, dinner, a movie night or any other fun event. POWER can give you an easy planning packet and a POWER representative can attend to briefly explain the impact of our work and answer any questions. People can make a donation at these parties, but no one is obligated to. It's a good excuse to have a party and get your friends together. If you would like to do this, please contact Aspen Branch-Moore at aspen@peopleorganized.org.

Hold a children's toy and book drive: POWER provides free childcare for our members at all meetings, actions and trainings to make sure that women and families can fully participate. We created POWER KIDZ to offer a safe and fun environment for our members' children where they can learn and be empowered to become creative, conscious and active members of their community. To hold a drive and collect quality books and toys for POWER kidz, contact Aspen Branch-Moore at aspen@peopleorganized.org.
